It’s been couple of weeks since Microsoft revealed that the company is working on a new feature that will allow its customers to switch between different accounts when using Microsoft 365 web apps. Earlier today, the company has announced that it has started to rollout the feature to users and expects it to be available to different users over next couple of months.
Prior to this update, users of different Microsoft 365 web apps such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive and Outlook would be required to sign out in case they wanted to log into a different one. As other apps have supported this feature for a long time now, it’s not particularly surprising to see Microsoft finally bringing this feature to its customers.
Thanks to the latest addition, users can now simply click on the account switcher on the top-right corner of your Microsoft 365 web app and choose between other accounts that you’ve previously used to sign into the app. However, at the moment the feature allows users to sign into only one account per session. For example, if you’ve two different browser tabs open, you’ll be signed out of both tabs in case you decide to switch account.
Microsoft notes that it’s started rolling out the feature worldwide for Office.com, Word, Excel, PowerPoint for the web, Outlook on the web, OneDrive for the web, SharePoint, and the Microsoft 365 admin center. As it stands, the company expects to complete the rollout to complete by June.
