If you’re using internet for a while, chances are you came across malware at least once. While most of the attackers target naïve users, researchers at Sentinel One have revealed that there’s a new Xcode malware that are targeting developers.
According to the recently published report, the latest malware is targeting developers who create iOS and macOS platforms. Researchers revealed that the malware is disguised as an Xcode project called TabBarInteraction. While developers are downloading the app thinking they’re downloading the actual software, the malware instead opens a backdoor instead.
In case you’re wondering, the malware is a trojan meaning the hacker will be able to spy on users through their computer’s webcam, microphone, monitor keystrokes, and also upload and download files to the infected computer remotely. Given the malware can be dated back to October, it’s likely that developers have been affected by the malware.
As with all of the malware, Sentinel One is advising developers to be more careful before downloading different Xcode projects.
