Marvel is focusing on introducing new characters in the MCU after Avengers: Endgame. Unsurprisingly, there has been plenty of speculations on which new heroes will be coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’ve heard rumors about the possibility of an Avengers spinoff for the Young Avengers. Interestingly, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige hasn’t ruled out the possibility of the spinoff.
During the recent promotion of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier which is available on Disney+, Feige was asked about the possibility of a possible spinoff. He said, “As a comic fan, anything in the comics is always our inspiration and our guide point. How those things come together and in what shape, it’s always subverting expectations, it’s always half the fun as meeting them. But, yes, you can certainly see that Phase 4 is introducing all sorts of new types of characters with the potential being endless. Now, all of us at Marvel Studios feel like Nick Fury at the end of Iron Man 1, as new actors and new performers come in and we tell them they’re part of a bigger universe. They just now have to do the work required to build their audience. I’m happy to say everybody that’s here, certainly where I’m sitting now, is doing amazing work and [I] can’t wait to show them the world.”
Feige’s comments aren’t particularly surprising. Following the release of Avengers Endgame back in 2019, Feige confirmed that Avengers 5 will happen at some point in future. However, he revealed that the team will be significantly more different than before. As a result, rumors surrounding Young Avengers started surfacing on a regular basis. The new Group made its debut in 2005 in comics and the studio is currently setting up the possibility of the franchise. For example, WandaVision introduced Tommy and Billy, Wanda and Vision’s superpowered kids whose status is currently unclear following the season finale.
While it won’t be particularly surprising to see a Young Avengers movie moving forward, we are still probably years away from that possibility. Despite that, it’ll be interesting to see how MCU moves forward with the new storyline.
