Although John Wick 4 was confirmed a long time ago, we didn’t have any confirmation regarding the filming of the next installment in the franchise. Thankfully, we now know that filming of the movie will start later this summer. Interestingly, the filming will take place outside of the US.
According to a report, John Wick 4 is set to begin filming in June with Chad Stahelski, who directed the previous three entries in the franchise, will return to direct the next movie. This latest news comes after it was confirmed that Derek Kolstad who wrote the first three movies, won’t be involved in future. While we don’t know anything about the storyline, rumors suggested that the sequel will be international rather than taking place in New York.
Apart from John Wick 4, there was also an update regarding John Wick 5. Lionsgate confirmed earlier last summer that the movie is indeed in the works. Although at the time the plan was to shoot both movies back-to-back. However, it looks like that’s not happening as the studio confirmed that the John Wick 4 will shoot first, then the fifth movie.
John Wick originally hit theaters back in 2014 and immediately became a hit. The sequel, John Wick: Chapter 2, released in 2017, earned more than double what the first movie did at the box office. The series didn’t slow down as the third installment became a bigger hit as it earned more than $573 million worldwide. At the moment, John Wick 4 is currently scheduled to hit theaters on May 27, 2022.
