Amazon has reportedly asked its drivers to sign a new contract. Under the new agreement, employees are required to hand over their biometrics data if they’re interested in working further with the company. According to Amazon, the company took the decision to keep track on their drivers.
This latest news comes after Amazon announced earlier last month that it’ll be fitting cameras in all of the delivery vans earlier last month. At the time, the company said that it’ll boost safety and quality of the delivery experience. However, some employees have since then resigned over their privacy concerns. For instance, the cameras are enhanced with AI to detect when a driver is tired, distracted, or not wearing their seatbelt.
Apart from these, Amazon will also take pictures of the drivers and use the provided biometric data to ensure the match. The company said that it’ll eliminate the chance of unauthorized users.
Although the new regulations are likely to improve the safety of the delivery services, delivery services are likely to be concerned about their privacy. For instance, Amazon already has the technology to track vehicles without drivers’ biometric data.
