Earlier today, AWS announced a new capability for its customers that allows the developers to share data across multiple applications. Titled S3 Object Lambda, the new feature will remove the complexities associated with using dataset for end users who wanted to share the data by automatically processing and transforming it for easier consumption across multiple applications.
Talking about the new functionality, AWS’ Chief Evangelist for EMEA, Danilo Poccia. Said, “This new capability makes it much easier to share and convert data across multiple applications.”
In case you didn’t’ know, prior to this feature, users would need to make multiple instances of their data or setup multiple infrastructures to process data for each application. With the new feature, developers will now be able to write code using AWS Lambda functions to retrieve the data and process it automatically. Moreover, since the code is executed online, users won’t need to change the code for different applications.
At the moment however, the S3 Object Lambda functionality isn’t available for users across the world. As it stands, users in Asia Pacific (Osaka), AWS GovCloud (US-East), AWS GovCloud (US-West), China (Beijing), and China (Ningxia) regions will need to wait longer to get access to the newly introduced feature.
