According to a new report, the OnePlus 8 will be available in the United States on Verizon’s network. Additionally, the smartphone will also support the carrier’s mmWave 5G network.
As you might already know, OnePlus smartphones are now available through T-Mobile and most recently, Sprint has started selling the OnePlus smartphones through the carrier channels in the US. At the moment, OnePlus 7T and the OnePlus 7T Pro 5G McLaren edition are available to T-Mobile customers. On the other hand, Sprint currently sells only the 5G variant of the OnePlus 7 Pro. While the OnePlus 6T is compatible with Verizon’s network for quite a while, consumers are required to purchase unlocked device then activate it on the network.
As for OnePlus 8, the recent report hasn’t mentioned if the pro variant of OnePlus 8 will be making its way to Verizon’s network when its available. As for the OnePlus’ pre-installed apps, they will come along with Verizon’s features such as VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling. Moreover, users will experience delayed software update as they will be required to pass Verizon’s additional testing and certification process.
Despite that, the latest news is a big achievement for OnePlus. As most of the consumers in the United States still purchase their smartphones through a carrier’s retail store, presence in a carrier such as Verizon’s retail store will give the brand strong exposure moving forward.
