If you are a regular user of online services, then you already know that two-factor authentication can be pretty useful in securing access to accounts. If you are looking for ways to secure your accounts, then you will be glad to know that you can now use iPhone as a security key for Google accounts.
This latest feature comes thanks to an update to the Google Smart Lock app for iPhone. Although the feature was available to Android users for a long period of time, Google has finally decided to bring the feature to iOS users.
In case you are wondering, the feature is a security method that removes the reliance on any additional hardware. As users have access to smartphones on a regular basis, it can be significantly easier to approve two-factor authentication using this method for instance, if you are trying to log into a Google app or service, you will receive a push notification to your iPhone. Afterwards, you will be able to use Google Smart Lock to approve the log-in.
Google noted, “With this new update, you can now set up your phone’s built-in security key, the best second factor protection for your Google Account. We’ve also refreshed the app’s design to make it easier to use.”
