If you are a Game of Thrones fan looking forward to getting House of the Dragon, prequel to Game of Thrones, you will be disappointed to know that the series won’t arrive until 2022.
During a recent interview, HBO President of Programming Casey Bloys revealed that the series is still in the early days of development. As a result, the best guess would be ‘sometime in 2022’. Moreover, Bloys confirmed that the writing is officially underway.
Although it’s unclear who will be appearing in the show to reprise their roles, the network has ordered a 10 series of House of the Dragon instead of Bloodmoon, set 8,000 years before the events of the show.
Bloys said, “For me for right now, I think getting House of the Dragon on the air will be the number one priority. There are no other blinking green lights or anything like that. Sometime down the road who knows, but there are no immediate plans. We are all focusing on House of the Dragon.”
“In development, in pilots, sometimes things come together, sometimes they don’t. One of the things I think Jane took on beautifully, which was a challenge, there was a lot more role creation because she set hers 8,000 years before the (mothership) show, so it required a lot more. That is a big swing.”
Although Game of Thrones remains to be one of the biggest shows, the ending of the show disappointed a lot of fans. As a result, a lot of people are concerned about the upcoming prequel’s quality when it comes to storytelling. However, Bloys assured that since they already have the book to direct the show, it’s likely that we won’t be disappointed about the series when it comes out.
