Although Google Maps is known for provided reliable methods for navigation here on the Earth, the app is one of the best services out there for view other planets’ surfaces. The web version of the application has shown the surfaces of other planets for a while and now, Google has updated the app to throw viewers into hyperspace in case they decide to switch between planets.

The feature was first spotted by user CNCK on Reddit. As you can see from the gif, Google Maps shows a hyperspace animation if you switch from Earth to other planets in our solar system. Although it’s unclear when Google added the animation, it’s more than likely that the company decided to add the feature following the release of the latest Star Wars movie.

Google initially added other planets to Google Maps back in 2017. Moreover, the search engine giant has added Street View within the International Space Station at the same time. In case you are interested in checking out other planets, you will need to open Google Maps on the Web and Zoom out as far as possible. From there, you will be able to select ‘Globe’ Afterwards, you will see the list of planets and moons.
