Dark mode has become extremely popular over last couple of years as more smartphone apps continue to bring the feature. Although several of the Facebook owned apps such as Instagram and Messenger have already got the dark mode, WhatsApp has been absent from that list. While we will have to wait to find out more, a recent report from WABetaInfo revealed that the latest Android beta for the app contains dark mode which might be available for beta users in the coming days.

Although we have heard about WhatsApp’s dark mode for a long time, the feature wasn’t released on either Android or iOS. However, if you are user of WhatsApp beta, then you might have got the dark theme. If you haven’t, it’s likely that you will get in the coming days as the report claims that the dark mode is still in the development.

As mentioned earlier, this isn’t the first time we are hearing about dark mode for WhatsApp. The outlet reported few months earlier that WhatsApp was working on three different versions for WhatsApp on iOS. However, at the moment it seems that two of those configurations are available. While the first one is using heavy dark colors, the second one is using softer dark colors. At the moment, it’s unclear if the app will feature both versions of the dark theme.

Apart from dark theme, WhatsApp on iOS also brings the ability to play Netflix trailers directly from the app. If a user shared a Netflix compatible link, WhatsApp will show a large thumbnail with a Play icon. If you tap on the play button, the video will be played in a picture-in-picture mode. However, you should note that WhatsApp is releasing the feature on a rolling basis. As a result, it might be a few days if you haven’t received the update immediately.
