Google has introduced a number of features to Google Maps over last couple of months as the company continues to improve privacy on the application. And now, the search engine giant has released a new update that allows users to edit their public profiles to control what others can see in case they decide to take a look at their pages on Google Maps.
Although Google Maps is one of the most popular apps, Google didn’t allow users to manage their public profiles. However, the company has taken a more privacy-oriented approach in recent months. The management option will give users more control over their profile picture, bio as well as other things. This update follows another update from few days earlier that introduced ‘incognito mode’ for Google Maps users.
Prior to the update, all someone could edit was select the Your Contributions and then choose a ‘view public profile option under the menu. This would show a user’s profile picture, name, and their reviews and ratings. With the new ‘Your Profile’ option, users will be able to find their public profile and make changes to it. Additionally, users will also be able to change their profile image and name that appears publicly to ensure better privacy over the service.
Moreover, users now have option to hide or show their contributions through profile page. If you are concerned about your negative reviews, you’d be glad to know that the new option allows users to hide their profiles from businesses.
