Smartphone’s camera sensors have come a long way over last couple of years as earlier this year, Samsung unveiled a camera sensor with 108MP resolution. However, it seems that Xiaomi will be the first smartphone manufacturer to bring the sensor to its upcoming smartphone.
Earlier yesterday, Xiaomi posted a teaser on Facebook to announce that Mi Note 10 is on the way and will feature world’s first 108MP penta camera.
This latest news comes as a surprise as there isn’t a lot of smartphones with 64MP cameras available at the moment. However, rumors for a while suggested that Xiaomi was working on a 108MP smartphone for a while. Moreover, the company was said to be working on a new model to bring its premium lines of smartphones back to the market. The latest teaser just confirms that as the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 will be the successor to the Mi Note 3 from 2017.

As for the camera itself, the 108MP camera won’t be taking 108MP images. Rather it will use the sensor to take higher quality images in lower resolution. Apart from the camera, the smartphone is rumored to feature similar specifications to Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro which was launched in China.
At the moment however, it’s unclear when the smartphone will become available. But Xiaomi currently is planning on an event on November 5th to launch its new smartwatch line. It’ll be interesting to see if the company unveils the new smartphone during the event. If that’s the case, we should learn more about the smartphone in just couple days.
