Facebook has introduced a new Preventive Health tool to connect its users to health resources and checkup reminders.
If you are located in the United States, you will be able to search for Preventive Health in the Facebook mobile app from today and find out the checkups recommended by health organizations based on age and sex these organizations provide. At the moment, the social network’s initial focus is on the top two leading causes of death, heart disease and cancer. According to Facebook, resources included in the tool are provided by American Cancer Society, the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
In case you are wondering, the tool will allow Facebook users to set remainders to schedule future tests, tell others about the tool to increase awareness of preventive care. Moreover, you can mark the test when you’ve completed a test.
Although Facebook didn’t give an exact date, the social network revealed that it will bring additional organizations to include more resources in the tool as it expects to expand the service in other countries in future.
Additionally, Facebook has revealed that it won’t show ads based on the information users provide in the tool. Moreover, Facebook won’t have access to test results. If you are interested, you can share the tool through Messenger or News Feed. However, it won’t share the activities you perform within the tool.
