Few days earlier, reports claimed that Peter Hochholdinger has left Tesla after spending three years at the company. And today, Lucid Motor has announced that it has hired the former executive as VP of manufacturing.
Hochholdinger has been a prominent figure in automotive production over the years. Before he joined Tesla, he spent 24 years in Audi as he spent his years focused on production. Hochholdinger was a high-profile appointment for Tesla at the time as industry experts had shed doubts over the company’s manufacturing abilities. Despite Hochholdinger’s appointment, last couple of years has been rough for Tesla as the company failed to meet Elon Musk’s promised figures to shareholders for a long period of time. However, Tesla has solved its production woes since then as it prepares for future products.
On the other hand, Lucid Motors is just starting out as production for its first vehicle won’t start until next year. With the latest appointment, Lucid Motors expects that Hochholdinger will be able to bring his years of experiences in vehicle production to the company to help it make its goals a reality.
“Peter’s extensive experience and proven leadership in premium-vehicle manufacturing will prove invaluable as we continue our progress towards the launch of Lucid Air and future models,” Peter Rawlinson, Lucid CEO and CTO, said. “In joining Lucid, Peter is empowered to create an industry-leading manufacturing process that will deliver the quality products our discerning customers demand and deserve.”
