Few days earlier, reports started surfacing that Xiaomi is set to bring a smartphone which will feature world’s first 64MP camera. While we will have to wait to find out the accuracy of the rumors, the company has now announced a new division called ‘CC’.
In the blog post, the company outlined the new division’s goals. It said, “Xiaomi today announced Mi CC, its new smartphone series under its Mi brand. Besides standing for camera+camera, a dual-camera setup on Mi CC, CC also refers to a variety of meanings including chic, cool, colorful and creative, aiming at the global young generation with its trendy design and camera features.”
At the moment however, the company didn’t reveal any other details regarding the smartphones currently in development under the new brand. However, Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi said that the brand will be “a trendy mobile phone for global young people.”
Despite the hyperbole, Xiaomi has brought several high-quality devices in past and it will be interesting to see if the latest division ends up releasing the rumored smartphone. However, given Chinese smartphone manufacturers’ recent struggles due to ongoing political tensions between the United States and China, don’t be surprised if these devices never make their way to the U.S. in near future.
