Earlier this year, Microsoft unveiled its Windows Terminal to give users easy access to Command Prompt, PowerShell and WSL from one place. While codes for the app was available for everyone to download at the time, Microsoft has now released a ready version of Terminal Preview in case you want to try it out.
The company wrote, “The Windows Terminal is a new, modern, fast, efficient, powerful, and productive terminal application for users of command-line tools and shells like Command Prompt, PowerShell, and WSL. Its main features include multiple tabs, Unicode and UTF-8 character support, a GPU accelerated text rendering engine, and custom themes, styles, and configurations”.
While you might be interested in trying out the preview, Microsoft warned that the build is early release and has some known issues. At the moment, the Terminal will not be supporting assistive technology. However, the company reemphasized its commitments to the open source project and you can expect the assistive technology support pretty soon. Although Microsoft promised that more preview builds of the Terminal is coming, we didn’t get any timeline of release from the company. In case you are interested, you can download the Terminal Preview directly from Microsoft Store.
