Few years earlier, Toyota and Subaru came together to bring two different coupes. As the electric cars have become increasingly popular in the last several years, both of these companies are joining once more to bring several electric cars including an SUV.
This latest announcement comes via an official press release from Toyota where the company said that the collaboration will see electric vehicles from both companies to utilize both companies’ strengths in different technology. While we don’t know the name of the upcoming architecture, Toyota revealed that the structure will bring the structure of mid and large size passenger vehicles.
While it’ll be interesting to see electric models of passenger cars, we will have to wait until early 2020s to get the first glimpse at them. Toyota said, “Both Subaru and Toyota believe that it is necessary to pursue a business model that goes beyond convention, crossing over industrial boundaries together with various types of other entities that share their aspirations.”
At the moment, Toyota has nearly 17 percent stake at Subaru and both of the companies have worked together in the past. As more companies are working together on electric cars, it just proves that producing affordable vehicles might be more expensive than previously thought.
