Few days earlier, Spotify revealed that its popular Station app is finally coming to the U.S. to bring personalized music to those who want to discover new songs. And now, the company has announced a new personalized playlist called Your Daily Drive which will bring music tracks as well as podcasts from popular news outlets such as NPR, Wall Street Journal.
According to Spotify, the latest feature will contain similar functionalities to Station. However, unlike Station, this playlist will continue to play songs you enjoy in addition to bringing you new songs which might interest you. Furthermore, you will also get news updates from reliable news sources from one place. As the playlist will be updated throughout the day with personalized contents, you won’t notice overlapping contents while using the app.
Spotify’s latest effort towards podcasts towards shouldn’t come off as a surprise. Recently, IAB revealed that podcasts are becoming extremely popular advertising platforms as ad spending in the industry is set to surpass $1 billion in the coming years. As a result, Spotify wants to make podcasts a bigger part of its offerings in the coming years. Recently, the company signed a deal with former US President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama’s production company to produce exclusive contents.
At the moment however, the company hasn’t revealed the news outlets it’ll feature in the app. Moreover, Your Daily Drive is available only on Wednesday in the U.S. At the moment, it’s unclear when or if the latest feature will reach users outside the U.S.
