Sega’s classic console, Genesis is getting a miniaturized model that is set to come out on September 19. The company recently confirmed that the console will be preloaded with over 40 games.
According to the company, the upcoming console will be 55 percent smaller than the original one. Additionally, the console will have several replica ports along with a sliding volume control. As for controller, Genesis Mini will come with two wired controllers that are same size of the original and will feature traditional three button layout. Moreover, in order to cater gamers with access to modern displays, the console will ship with HDMI port and a cable.
As for the titles, the Genesis Mini will feature Sonic The Hedgehog and the sequel, Castlevania: Bloodlines, Ecco The Dolphin, Phantasy Star 4: The End of The Millennium and Street Fighter 2: Special Champion Edition among others.
According to the company, the upcoming console will serve as a source of nostalgia while giving players access to some of the best games Sega has to offer. Miyazaki Hiroyuki, executive manager at Sega Games, shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming console as he said, “I hope every Genesis fan, Sega fan and gamers in general can love this new retro game machine.”
