Earlier on Friday, Michael Schur announced that The Good Place will come back for season 4 on NBC. Unfortunately however, the upcoming season will also mark the end of the series.
Premiered back in 2016, The Good Place became an instant success thanks to its brilliant story telling as well as amazing performance by talented cast members. The show featured a number of established stars such as Kristen Bell (Eleanor Shellstrop), William Jackson Harper (Chidi Anagonye), D’Arcy Carden (Janet), and Manny Jacinto (Jason Mendoza).
While the show is coming to an end, recently Schur commented on how he broke the news to the cast members. In his recent interview with THR, he said, “I [waited] until I was 100 percent sure, which was toward the end of shooting Season 3. I called Ted and Kristen and said this was the plan. The other thing was that I wanted to be fair to actors. They want to work and I wanted them to know a year out that we would be winding things down here and if they wanted to plan their lives, they would have enough time. It’s only fair to actors to keep them included in those conversations because if you spring it on them a week before, they may have turned down some other offers they didn’t do because they thought it would conflict with their home-base TV schedule. That was also a consideration for me and I wanted everyone to know so they could plan their lives a little better than if I had waited until the last second.”
While the show is coming to an end, it’s great to see that a show ending while being on the high rather than pushed for an end by a network. Great news is that we will be seeing an additional episode in the upcoming season along with an-hour long series finale. You can Check out the tweet below.
