Back in December last year, Qualcomm revealed its new Snapdragon 8cx platform which will compete with Intel Core i5 when the former becomes available. At the time, the company confirmed that it will continue to build Snapdragon 850 chips to provide competitive price points for consumers. In a recent podcast the company’s VP Don MGuire confirmed that the company is working on a new chipset to be used in laptops in the $300 to $800 price range.
In the podcast, McGuire referred to the new chipset as Snapdragon 7cx as the official name still unknown. Moreover, he also confirmed that the latest processor won’t be targeted towards mid-range market as the upcoming chip will provide performance on par with Core i3.
At the moment however, there isn’t a lot of details to go on. As we go deeper into the year, more details regarding the upcoming processor are likely to come out.
