Although we heard about Microsoft’s Project Scarlett since last year, the company finally unveiled console during this year’s E3 press conference. According to the company, the next generation console will improve games’ performance significantly due to improved specifications. Interestingly, those who have received developer kits for both Sony’s PS5 and Project Scarlett are claiming that PS5 will be more powerful when the consoles become available later next year.
The latest news came as during a recent podcast of former IGN editor Colin Moriarty who revealed that judging from the feedbacks from those who have received the developer kits, PS5 seems to be more powerful. This is pretty surprising considering both of the consoles pack identical hardware. However, if you have watched the reveal announcement, you might recall that Microsoft is focusing on faster loading time for games with the upcoming console. While this is the early days, it won’t be highly surprising considering we have heard rumors for a long time that Sony’s PlayStation 5 will focus on improved gameplay performance to take full benefits of the improved hardware offerings.
Few days earlier, Yakuza series general director Toshihiro Nagoshi claimed that the PS5 has amazing processing power and machine learning along with artificial intelligence will definitely play a significant role in the console.
He said, “The processing power of PlayStation 5 is incredible, so when we try to think of new gameplay that will utilize its full potential, I’m not really sure which aspects of existing mechanics we should translate.”
“First there was a time when graphics improved, then there were network features, and now I guess you can say it’s a return to the “programmable” era? I think artificial intelligence and machine learning will continue to evolve.”
