Nokia has revealed that Nokia, the company’s most affordable smartphone has started getting Android Pie update starting from today.
The latest announcement came as HMD’s Chief Product Officer turned to Twitter to reveal the news. he wrote, “Excited to share that our most affordable smartphone, Nokia 1, upgrades to Android 9 Pie starting today. Now there is a Nokia smartphone for everyone running Pie – bringing to you the latest experiences from Google. Nokia phones just keep getting better #Getsmart #Nokiamobile”
Nokia 1 became pretty popular among budget users after HMD released it last year. At the time, the smartphone was one of the cheapest smartphones and was running the Go Edition of Android Oreo. As you might be aware, the Go edition of Android is developed with affordable smartphones in mind. While the version makes several changes including the AI it also includes several enhancements to cater users in developing countries.
This release comes as Nokia prepares for the release of Android Q. As Nokia is part of Google’s Android beta program for the upcoming operating system, you can expect that Nokia 8.1 will be the first of the company’s products to receive the latest operating system when it becomes available.
As for the update, it is going out on a rolling basis and if you haven’t received the update immediately, you should receive it over next couple of days.
