According to a report by Sensor Tower, Apple’s App Store is more profitable for publishers compared to Google Play.
The report reveals that top publishers in the App store have made up to 64 percent more profit than those on the Play Store. According to Sensor Tower, these incomes have generated as consumers spending more money in both App stores. The data revealed that people spent $130 million during the first quarter of 2019 compared to $33.9 million five years earlier during same time period. Moreover, since 2014, both companies have experienced significant growth as App Store and Play Store have seen 291 percent and 289 percent consumer growth during this time period due to increasing number of smartphone users.
Interestingly, the data revealed that although publishers of games on Play have seen less profit ($7 million) compared to App Store ($23 million) the difference is significantly lower in other apps. According to the report, people had spent $70 million in App Store compared to $48 million in Play Store during the quarter.
While the numbers are favored towards Apple, you should note that Play Store has larger collection of free apps. As a result, the Android users generally have better alternatives to paid apps. Despite that, the figures are extremely impressive for App Store considering iPhone’s significantly lower market share.
Nevertheless, the latest report proves that App Store might be better alternative in case publishers wants to make more profit from their offerings.
