Few days earlier, reports surfaced that Nintendo might be working on new consoles that have already entered the production stage. While we will have to wait until end of the year to find out if the recent rumors are accurate, a new tweet by CptxAlex has revealed that Nintendo might release Switch Mini to replace 3DS.
According to previous rumors, Nintendo will bring an upgraded version of the current console along with Nvidia Tegra X1 chip. Additionally, the company will release a more affordable and portable version. According to CptxAlex’s latest tweet, he received an email from a Chinese accessory maker which will release new products for “Nintendo Switch Mini”.
While we will have to take the recent tweet with grain of salt, the images do line up with the rumors surrounding the upcoming console. As mentioned earlier, one of the Switch models will be designed for portability and won’t be dockable. However, it’s unlikely that Nintendo has signed a contract with an accessory maker and has provided all of the details of the upcoming consoles. Despite that, few days earlier, a Nintendo executive said that the company is always working on bringing new devices to gamers.
Was the Switch Mini just unofficially announced to me?
A gaming company in China just wrote to me letting me know they’re releasing accessories for the Nintendo Switch Mini.
Would a company make products for a console they didn’t KNOW existed, and didn’t have in hand? pic.twitter.com/yQgk7xCbUn

At the moment, these are rumors and we shouldn’t really be extremely excited. In case Nintendo has got plans to release something to replace 3DS later this year, we should learn more about the console over the next couple of weeks as we approach holiday season.
