When Netflix joined the streaming market, few would think the company would change the entire industry in such a short period of time. Although quality of its contents definitely helped, the biggest draw of Netflix was definitely its commercials-free nature. However, in an attempt to keep up with the increasing production costs, the company raised prices over the years with the latest being last year. Interestingly, data from a recent survey reveal that subscribers still prefer increased cost of subscription to Netflix over commercials.
In its latest research, DecisionData asked random participants about the increased cost of Netflix subscription. Out of 1,105 of the participants of the survey, 81 percent revealed that they were somewhat unhappy about Netflix’ decision to increase the price. However, the responders stated that they still prefer watching commercial free contents on the platform. In fact, 74 percent of the participants responded they wouldn’t mind paying more if that means the contents will remain completely advertisements free.
This latest news shouldn’t come off as a surprise considering Netflix remains to be the biggest streaming platform right now. Despite release of Disney+ few months later, it’s unlikely that Netflix will become a broadcasting network anytime soon. Most importantly, the company tried to introduced advertisements in past which didn’t go well with the subscribers.
