Just hours after Microsoft announced Xbox Game Pass during this year’s E3, AMD released a new driver with support for the game subscription service. In addition to the support, the driver update addressed several issues. And now, the company has released another driver update which includes supports for various Vulkan API extensions.
While the company hasn’t revealed if any game has received optimizations with the latest driver, it includes several improvements along with HDR support.
In case you are wondering, these are the extensions arriving with the driver.
Allows resets of queries from the host, rather than on the GPU.
Gives applications explicit control over exclusive full-screen modes (this is for instance useful for HDR support).
Exposes FreeSync2 capabilities for improved HDR support.
Separates the usage flags for depth/stencil aspects of a depth/stencil image making it possible to restrict/expand the usage relative to the depth aspect.
Provides more flexible alignment for uniform buffers, enabling among other things, the usage of std430 layouts in Vulkan.
If you haven’t done so already, you can install the Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.6.2 driver from the Radeon’s app on Windows. Alternatively, you can head to the official site here in order to download the latest driver
