NASA to Test New Spacecraft Fuel on June 24

Ahead of SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy launch later this month, NASA has revealed that the upcoming rocket will be using a new spacecraft fuel which is more powerful compared to the current fuel. Called Green fuel, if successful, will also be used in future Mars missions.

This latest innovation comes thanks to NASA’s  Green Propellant Infusion Mission (GPIM). The goal of the research was to create an alternative fuel to make the journey safer. For instance, scientists are required to take a number of precautions at the moment to handle Hydrogen. However, with the new fuel, there won’t be as much safety risks involved with the process. Moreover, NASA revealed that the new fuel offers 50 percent better performance which can be critical to complete future Mars missions.

At the moment, NASA has plans to use the fuel in the moon mission later in 2024. If successful, the fuel will be used to reach Mars in future. We will have to wait to find out if the upcoming mission become successful. SpaceX, upcoming mission will carry a range of revolutionary technology along with 24 satellites.
