Spoilers ahead. If you haven’t seen the season 4 of Blindspot, you’ve been warned about spoilers.
Blindspot’s surprising ending for season 4 along with the massive cliffhanger means that fans will eagerly wait to find out what happens to the characters in the final season of the show. Recently, the show’s creator Martin Gero talked about the future of the show.
Martin Gero told ET, “There is a two month-ish time jump, but through flashbacks we’ll tell what happened immediately [after] what we saw [in the finale]. […] Presuming they all survive, or the ones who do, I think there will be great unity within [the team] like there never has been before. That’s part of what excited us about doing Season 5. We really put this team at odds with each other at different times; it’s been really rare that everyone has gotten along at the same time.”
While this wouldn’t be the massive surprise given how previous TV series have handled similar scenarios, the time jump will help the characters to settle down a bit after the explosive finale. Most importantly, the nature of such progression might allow for more surprises going deep into the last season of the show.
As for the final season, Gero said that the characters are currently on the run as they try to clear their names. He also teased that it’s highly likely that we’ll see even more surprises going into next season. However, he mentioned that everyone involved into the show is trying to thank the fans and create a “celebratory” vibe surrounding the final season. However, given how fans have reacted to the latest high-profile season finale of Game of Thrones, it’ll be interesting to see if the show’s ending lives up to fans’ expectations.
As of now, season 5 of Blindspot is set to return on NBC with a midseason premiere.
