Although Black Adam was initially planned for release before Shazam, the latter came out earlier this year and became surprisingly popular among movie-goers. Although, we haven’t heard about Black Adam for quite a while now, a recent report from Observer claims that Jaume Collet-Serra is set to direct the upcoming movie.
Black Adam has been in development for quite some time now. At the moment, Warner Bros. wants to start the production of the upcoming movie later next year. With the recruitment of the director, it’s likely that the filming will start as scheduled.
This latest news isn’t surprising considering Dwayne Johnson who is set to reprise the role of Black Adam, was impressed by Collet-Serra’s direction during Disney’s Jungle Cruise. While Shazam didn’t really became a blockbuster considering its $364 million worldwide gross, it was praised by both critics and fans. As a result, Warner Bros. is finally going ahead with Black Adam.
In case you didn’t know, Black Adam was set to appear in Shazam as the main villain. However, the studio decided to go against it and release both of the the character’s solo movie prior to facing Shazam. At the moment, there isn’t a lot of details available. However, as the studio is targeting a 2021 or 2022 release date, filming of the movie should begin soon and we will hear more about the upcoming movie in the coming months.
