After U.S. companies cancelled their contracts with Huawei following the company’s inclusion in the United States’ Entity list, the company faced uncertainty over its smartphone business. However, the company claimed that it is still working on smartphones. If you were wondering if Huawei was still working on its Mate 30 series, then you will be glad to know that the company is in fact working on the device and a recent report reveals that we might get the Mate 30 5G in December.
According to a report from GSMarena the company recently shared some information of its devices during a 5G conference in Russia. During the event, Huawei showed off a slide that mentioned Mate 30 will launch in December.
While we will have to wait to see if the smartphone arrives in December, the release date is most likely for Russia and consumers from other countries will need to wait longer in case they want to get their hands on the 5G variant. However, 4G variants of the smartphone might arrive earlier in November as Huawei has traditionally released its Mate series around that time.
Apart from this, Huawei confirmed that it is currently testing Mate X to ensure that the smartphone’s release goes smoothly due to the device’s complex foldable display. The slide showed that the smartphone is still scheduled to come out in September as the company stated few days earlier. Most importantly, Huawei noted that since it announced the smartphone earlier this year, Mate X will come with latest version of Android Q.
Although the smartphones’ release dates are pretty far away, expect to hear more from the company in the coming weeks as it continues to find a solution to the ongoing trade issues. Earlier on yesterday, U.S. president Donald Trump stated that Huawei will be able to purchase products form American companies which means Huawei might be getting out of the crisis pretty soon.
