Google Introduces Public Transit Updates to Map

While Google map remains to be the best option to find route to a location, Google has introduced several features in recent times to make it even better.

Although the service provided information on how long it will take you to reach your destination for a long time, Google has now announced two new features to make it easier for you to plan a trip around town.

The first feature will report real-time traffic to let you know if you are going to be late for an appointment. In order to do so, Google Maps will now contain live traffic delays for buses in areas where the company doesn’t have information from local agencies. With this information, Google Maps will give you more accurate travel times based on the real-time traffic in your route. Most importantly, with the new feature, you will now know exactly where you will be spending time in traffic before getting on a bus.

The second feature added today is interesting one. In order to save you from the pain of riding crowded public transportations, Google Maps will now contain ‘crowdedness predictions’ to inform users on how many people might be riding a public bus, train or subway. Google will predict the crowdedness based on past number of people using the rides at a given time. Google hopes that this feature will allow users to decide whether or not it’s worth to take a bus or train ride at the time.

In the blog post, Google stated that the feature will be available to users in almost 200 cities around the world for both iOS and Android users.
