During an annual shareholder’s meeting earlier last week, Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed that the company is working on a new car model inspired by 1977 James Bond film “The Spy Who Loved Me.”
This isn’t the first time Musk has talked about the movie. Back in 2013, he told USA Today, “It was amazing as a little kid in South Africa to watch James Bond in ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ drive his Lotus Esprit off a pier, press a button and have it transform into a submarine underwater.”
Funnily enough, he famously bought the Lotus Esprit back in 2013 for $800,000. However, he was disappointed to find out that the car cannot turn into a submarine. Since then, Musk has talked about the idea of similar cars.
Whether or not he actually brings a car with those features remains to be seen. At the moment, Tesla is working on an all-electric pickup truck which will compete with Ford F-150. Recently, Musk revealed that Tesla is considering a price starting from $49,000 which would be significantly higher than the F-150’s $28,000 starting point. Apart from that, the company is set to bring Model Y, a five door sports-utility vehicle.
