While Crystal Dynamics announced Avengers game with high expectations during this year’s E3, the trailer of the upcoming game received fair share of criticisms from fans. Although most of the criticisms were directed towards the character designs of the game, the studio confirmed that they won’t be making any changes.
Shortly after the studio revealed the trailer of the Avengers, fans voiced their disappointments over the character designs. If you see the reveal trailer, you can see that the characters look too similar to their MCU counterparts. As a result, comic book fans who wanted to see designs based on actual comics were left disappointed.
However, despite the negative feedback, Crystal Dynamics lead creative director Shaun Escayg said that the studio isn’t planning on making any changes. During his interview with IGN, he said, “We are always listening to, and welcome feedback from our community. There are currently no plans to change our character designs.”
While there won’t be any fundamental changes to the characters, he went on to say that the trailer contained pre-alpha gameplay footages. As a result, fans can expect to see polished version of the characters when the game comes out next year.
Nevertheless. if you are one of the comic book fans, you will be disappointed with the latest revelations. However, given that we are a long time away from getting the final release, hopefully the studio will be able to make appropriate changes to make more polished characters. Marvel’s Avengers is set to come out on May 15, 2020 on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.
