China Has Successfully Completed Its First Space Launch from a Floating Platform

According to local reports, China has successfully completed its first ever space launch of the Chang Zheng 11 carrier rocket from a floating launch platform on Wednesday. The latest report came via China Central Television which reported that the liftoff took place at a site located at the Yellow Sea after 12:00 PM. Chang Zheng is a solid-fueled launch vehicle which is easier to operate and can be ready for launch pretty soon compared to other spacecrafts. The rocket’s first flight came way back in 2015 and since then, the vehicle has been part of a total of 6 launches prior to Wednesday’s launch. However, this isn’t the first time a country has used an offshore platform for such launch. Russia carried out similar launches from the Odyssey platform located in Pacific Ocean from 1999 to 2014.
