Last year’s BlizzCon was pretty disappointing for fans as we didn’t get a lot of expected announcements from the company. Prior to the event, reports suggested that Blizzard would announce highly anticipated Diablo 4 which never really came into fruition as we got a mobile title instead. Few weeks earlier, fans became pretty excited as reports revealed that this year’s BlizzCon might bring those games along with a surprise announcement of Overwatch 2. While Blizzard has been dead silent on the rumors, recently a report has revealed that some employees have already seen Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4.
The news first came via French publication Le Monde which recently published a report focused on the current Blizzard office in Paris following the company’s announcement that over 130 employees from the branch will lose their jobs in the coming months. Interestingly, the report claimed that some of these employees have already seen Diablo 4.
The publication wrote (via icy-veins), “What about the future? Teams at Blizzard Entertainment have already been presented with the long-awaited Diablo 4 and know that a new Overwatch game is in development. But neither of these two games will be released before 2020, at the very best, and employees at Versailles have no idea if they will still be around when they eventually release. ‘Activision Blizzard will be making less of a profit, but this will still amount to a lot of profit,’ says a veteran employee.”
Given the reputation of the publication, it’s more than likely that there is at least some truth in the rumors. However, Blizzard is going through rough time lately as recently several high ranked executives have left highly publicized Overwatch League. While we will have to wait to find out more, the report claimed that even if Blizzard announces Diablo 4 and Overwatch 22, the titles aren’t going to come out this year.
