If you have played any online multiplayer game, then you might already know that someone quitting the game between mid-match isn’t really a rare occurrence. As a result, game developers and publishers often include punishments in case a player leaves the game during mid-match. In order to prevent such occurrences on a regular basis, Respawn has introduced penalty system to Apex Legends.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the penalty system in action in Apex Legends. Back in April, several users on Reddit revealed that they were receiving penalties if they left during mid-match. Shortly afterwards, Respawn Entertainment issued a statement saying that they were testing the feature internally. The feature made its way to the game accidentally with an update at the time. As a result, the developers removed the feature shortly after complaints.
Although at the time the developers didn’t say how long it will take before getting the highly anticipated feature, players can now see the penalties live in the game. However, the penalties are pretty lenient at the moment and only applies to matches where a player is part of a complete team. Moreover, the penalty starts after leaving three consecutive matches.
As for the amount, you will be blocked from matchmaking for five minutes for the first time and 10 minutes if you leave the matches four times in a row. As you can see, the penalties for leaving matches early aren’t pretty severe. As a result, it’ll be interesting to see if the latest changes actually make a difference in the matches.
This latest news comes after the company announced that the second competitive season of Apex Legends will start from later next month.
