Amazon announced that it has launched Counter, the retailer’s in-store network of package pickup locations in the United States. Thanks to the latest initiative, customers will now be able to pick up their Amazon packages either in-store or at a partner location.
Amazon originally launched Counter in the UK and Italy where the service was positively received by customers. Amazon claimed that the service has resulted in strong customer engagement and additional foot traffic to partners stores that have contributed to increased sales for the partners. As a result, Amazon is bringing the service in the U.S. for all of the items on Amazon. Moreover, the latest service can be used for same-day, one-day, two-day and standard shipping services without additional cost.
Patrick Supanc, Worldwide Director of Amazon Hub, noted that Amazon is always looking for new ways to serve its customers better. He said, “With Counter, we’ve leveraged our growing logistics network and invested in new, easy to use technology to give customers yet another delivery option rooted in flexibility and control. We are excited to partner with national businesses like Rite Aid, and local businesses in the future, to create an outstanding experience for our shared customers.”
In order to use the latest service, you will need to purchase your desired item from Amazon as usual. Afterwards, you can select one of the counter pickup points according to your zip code. When the item arrives at your selected partner location, you will receive an e-mail notification containing all the required details for you to receive the item. You will then have 14 days to collect the package from the partner using the information.
Although the service is available through more than a hundred Counter locations for the time being, Amazon said that the retailer is working with Rite Aid to bring thousands of Counters in different locations across the country by the end of the year.
