Earlier this month, reports claimed that Robert Pattinson had entered negotiations to reprise the role of the Batman in the upcoming movie. Now, Deadline has reported that the actor is set to play the role.
This confirmation comes as the previous reports had claimed that the Warner Bros. was considering both Robert Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult of X-Men. While the studio liked both actors for the role, after screen tests, director Matt Reeves reportedly saw Pattinson for the role.
This news should be a relief for DC fans as the movie had gone through a lot of changes. Although Ben Affleck had been reprising the character since 2016, following the release of Justice League the actor called it a day. Given the actor was going to star in, co-write, produce and direct The Batman himself, the announcement had put the entire future of the movie in question. In early 2017, Warner Bros. brought Matt Reeves to write and direct the movie.
While it’s good to finally know who will be playing the role, fans are still divided on it. At the moment, plot details of the movie are unknown but is expected to feature multiple villains from the comics. As the shooting is set to being in the early 2020, we should hear more about the upcoming movie in the coming months. at the moment, The Batman is set for release on June 25, 2021.
