Reports for a while now suggested that Apple is planning on launching a smartphone in the coming days with lower price tag. Whether or not the rumor is correct remains to be seen but if one notable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is accurate, then we might be getting a 6.1-inch LCD smartphone which will cost as low as $550. Interestingly, although the smartphone is tipped to be released with all of the popular iPhone features, it will come with a standard LCD display rather than the usual OLED display of iPhone.
In addition to the lower price tag, the upcoming smartphone is also rumored to come with dual-SIM support. If the speculation is true, then it will mark an important shift from Apple. Dual-SIM is an extremely popular feature across Europe and Asia as switching between two carriers is particularly popular among users in these regions.
While at the moment, nothing is confirmed, other rumored models in this year contain an iPhone X2 and iPhone X2 Plus. Interestingly, the iPhone X2 Plus might also come with dual-SIM capabilities. However, the dual-SIM functionality might not be coming to everywhere as Apple is tipped to release the dual-SIM version in selected markets.
As for now, nothing has been confirmed by Apple but as we head to annual WWDC events in couple of weeks, more details regarding the upcoming smartphones are likely to surface.
