In a recent announcement, US sportswear brand Under Armour have revealed that more than 150 million user accounts of fitness app MyFitnessPal have been hacked.
The company released a statement saying that the owners became aware of the latest breach on March 25 and started notifying users four days later. In the statement, the company revealed that email accounts and password associated with the accounts have been compromised although payment details were unaffected during the incident. The company said, “We do not know the identity of the unauthorized party. Our investigation into this matter is ongoing.”
The company revealed that it is currently working with several data security firms and law enforcement agencies to investigate the breach. Moreover, the company urged users to change their passwords immediately.
In case you didn’t know, the app allows customers to monitor their calorie intake and measure it against the amount of exercise they are doing.
