Back in the earliest days of smartphones, smartphone manufacturers often shipped their smartphones with their own skin in an attempt to differentiate their phones from other manufacturers’ as most flagship smartphones tend to feature similar specifications. However, Android have come a long way since then as its interface offers less cluttered interface at the moment. Interestingly, Xiaomi wanted to find out if MIUI is an exception to the common belief as it ran a poll. However, it resulted in a in a PR failure as users responded that they prefer Android One UI which resulted in the company deleting the tweet.
However, prior to this, users were quick to take a screenshot of the tweet and one of the users Raju PP shared his screenshot of the poll which revealed that Android One was leading at 57% with nearly 15,000 users taking part in the poll. While it is by no means a small number, it’s unclear how many of the participants actually used MIUI rather than Android One.
While it might be considered by many a PR failure, it might give Xiaomi valuable insight into the UI as the company might consider making the UI a bit cleaner. As for the poll, you can check out the screenshot below.
