In an attempt to make it easier for developers to discover past activities on the platform, Twitter has launched a new API that allows developers to see the first tweet from all the way back to 2006.
The latest announcement is a shift from the company’s policy as in the past, the functionality was available for premium APIs which are pretty expensive for small developers. When the full version of the API becomes available, developers will be able to make 50 requests per month for free. Afterwards, they will need to pay fee for using the API.
Thanks to the latest API, researchers and developers can easily find how users’ views on different topics have changed over the years. In case you are interested, you can apple for access by going here.
