When Crash Bandicoot trilogy remaster arrived for PS4, it started rumors that Spyro the Dragon will be the next classic PlayStation game to get the upgrade. While we haven’t heard from the company since then, a new report from Kotaku has revealed that Activision is currently working on launching remastered Spyro the Dragon trilogy for PS4 later this year.
While there is no confirmation at the moment, several sources claimed that the studio has a plan to release the remasters later in September this year which marks the 20th anniversary of the franchise. At the moment, Vicarious Visions is said to be working on the trilogy which will include Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. Apart from the contents which were removed from the original trilogy, gamers will also get new assets, animation, cinematics, and soundtrack.
This latest news comes as earlier last year, Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy’s creative director Dan Tanguay said that we might get an entirely new Crash Bandicoot game in future with reports suggesting a tentative release date next year. However, if the studio is currently working on The Dragon Spyro the Dragon trilogy at the moment, it’s unlikely that we will get another Crash Bandicoot game by next year. As for now, we will have to wait to find out if the studio is indeed working on releasing the remastered edition following Crash Bandicoot’s success.
