Apple’s HomePod is finally available as it joined other smart speakers such as Google Home and Amazon Echo. Understandably, a lot of users are already comparing Apple’s latest device with two of the most popular products as Apple has integrated Siri into HomePod.
Although Apple haven’t marketed the HomePod as a smart speaker, Siri’s integration means the comparison s completely justified. However, a recent test by Lou Ventures has revealed that if HomePod was in fact a smart speaker, it wouldn’t be able to compete favorably as it managed to answer only 52.3 percent of the questions correctly compared to Google Home’s 81 percent accuracy.
While the number might be disappointing, Loup Ventures has pointed out that the hardware limitation might be the key reason behind the performance. However, taking out these equations completely resulted in accuracy jumping to 67 percent which is ahead of Alexa (64%) and Cortana (57%).
While the response accuracy might be disappointing, the test found out that HomePod are excellent at picking up queries as it understood over 99% of the total queries. As we move forward, it’s likely that Apple will introduce more features that can take benefits of these features.
