Fans of Big Bang Theory got a treat when CBS announced that it will develop a new spinoff series which will portray Sheldon as a child genius. If there was any doubt regarding the success of the new spinoff, all of it went away after the show premiered in September with over 12 million people viewing each episode on average. If you are one of the fans of the new series, you will be glad to know that Young Sheldon has been renewed for second season.
This latest news should come as a surprise given the show’s popularity as well as the ongoing success of the Big Bang Theory. While most of the sitcoms over the years have failed to attract viewers following the success of early seasons, Big Bang Theory remains one of the most popular television shows as it is currently in the middle of 11th season. As a result, Young Sheldon’s success isn’t particularly surprising. Moreover, the spinoff airs on the same nights as the Big Bang which ultimately gave a pre-built audience base.
If you haven’t checked out already, Young Sheldon is considerably different series than the Big Bang Theory. Apart from showing some of Sheldon’s quirks, the show focuses on Sheldon and his mother. Young Sheldon airs new episodes on every Thursday s on CBS.
