Recently Twitter came under heavy criticisms after Project Veritas revealed that some of the microblogging network’s employees have unrestricted access to users’ direct messages. And now, Twitter has responded to Buzzfeed News that the claims are misleading and incorrect.
While not completely inaccurate, Twitter revealed that some of the employees in the platform have access to direct messages. A former Twitter employee pointed out that some engineers are required to view sensitive data in case someone on the platform reports the content. Moreover, two senior employees confirmed that most of the moderation works are completed via different algorithms.
This latest report comes after the microblogging platform introduced new rules to moderate hate speech and harassment. However, Twitter has been working to restrict employee access after a disgruntled employee disabled US President Donald Trump’s account back in November.
