When you hear the name of Qualcomm, the first thing that comes to your mind is obviously smartphone considering majority of smartphones these days come with the company’s processor. However, the company’s reach is far beyond that and earlier today, the company announced that it will be including its Snapdragon automotive platforms for both the 2018 Honda Accord and future Jaguar Land Rover vehicles.
In case you are wondering, Qualcomm’s technology will be powering advanced telematics, infotainment and digital cluster with integrated connectivity, and rear seat entertainment system which are becoming increasingly popular among consumers. Additionally, combination of 4G, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technology means that autonomous vehicles will go one step further in the coming months.
The company went on to say that it is bringing the support to the cars due to increased demand for more personalized driving experiences from both drivers and passengers. While Honda and Jaguar will be first companies to bring the Snapdragon’s automotive platforms this year, China’s largest electronic vehicle manufacturer BYD will be using the technology starting from next year.
