Qualcomm Announces Smart Home Hub Collaboration with Google

In an attempt to put the Google Assistant to more devices in households, Qualcomm and Google has announced two different Qualcomm Home Hub platforms.

The first of two new platforms, will be based on SDA624 System on Chips which will bring digital assistant as well as audio capability into different home appliances such as refrigerators, ovens and washing machines. On the other hand, the second platform, SDA212 SoC will bring more features related to computing and related fields such as ideo conferencing, remote video monitoring, and streaming video.

Raj Talluri, Senior Vice President of product management for Qualcomm Technologies, said, “The design of AI-enabled home hubs can be a complex task, requiring OEMs to bring together connectivity, compute and security hardware and software elements in a very short time. Our Home Hub platforms using Android Things are able to integrate the necessary technologies, with support for voice interfaces, connectivity to several ecosystems, and cloud integration to enable a wide range of IoT devices.”

During the event at CES, Harman and Lenovo also confirmed that Harman and Lenovo are currently working on bringing home products which will use the company’s Home Hub platforms.
